Receipts Terms of Service

Last updated: April 25, 2026

These Terms of Service govern use of Receipts by Toolandmore, including the customer receipt portal, merchant portal, Square connection flow, receipt delivery, support workflows, and related pages at toolandmore.com/receipts. By using Receipts, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be legally able to enter into these Terms. Merchants must have authority to connect the relevant Square seller account and to use receipt data for the business location they connect.

2. What Receipts provides

Receipts helps Square merchants send digital receipts to customer accounts using customer member codes. Customers can view receipt history in their Receipts account. Receipts is not a payment processor, point-of-sale system, tax advisor, accounting system, legal advisor, or substitute for a merchant's legal recordkeeping obligations.

3. Customer accounts

  • Customers are responsible for keeping their sign-in method secure.
  • Customers should only give their member code to a merchant when they want that receipt sent to their account.
  • Customers are responsible for checking whether the receipt shown is correct and contacting the merchant about refunds, returns, corrections, or disputes.

4. Merchant accounts

  • Merchants are responsible for the accuracy of sale, tax, item, refund, and receipt data generated by their Square account.
  • Merchants are responsible for telling staff how to use Receipts properly and for entering the correct customer member code.
  • Merchants are responsible for providing paper receipts or other alternatives where required by law or customer preference.
  • Merchants must not use Receipts to send receipts to a customer account without a legitimate customer request or authorization.

5. Square connection

Merchants connect Square through Square OAuth. By connecting Square, the merchant authorizes Receipts to use the approved Square permissions to read the payment, order, merchant, and location data needed to provide receipt capture and delivery. Merchants may disconnect Square through Square or by contacting us.

6. Receipt data and limitations

  • Receipts displays receipt information based on data made available through Square and our system.
  • Availability, timing, and completeness of receipt details may depend on Square APIs, Square webhooks, merchant setup, network conditions, and system availability.
  • Receipts may show a formatted receipt-style view rather than an official paper receipt image or PDF.
  • The merchant remains the source of truth for the actual sale, refund, tax treatment, return policy, and customer dispute handling.

7. Fees, trials, and payment

Merchant fees, trial terms, billing cycles, setup fees, discounts, and cancellation terms are shown in the checkout flow, invoice, written order, or merchant agreement presented to the merchant. Customer accounts are currently free unless stated otherwise.

8. Acceptable use

You may not use Receipts to:

  • Access or connect a Square account without authorization.
  • Send receipts to the wrong customer knowingly or recklessly.
  • Collect customer member codes by deception or misuse customer receipt history.
  • Violate privacy, consumer protection, anti-spam, tax, payment, or other laws.
  • Interfere with the security, reliability, or integrity of Receipts, Square, Firebase, or related systems.

9. Privacy

Use of Receipts is also governed by our Privacy Notice. Merchants are responsible for giving any notices and obtaining any consents required for their own handling of customer transaction and receipt information.

10. Service changes and availability

We may change, pause, limit, or discontinue Receipts features, pricing, integrations, Square permissions, hosting, or supported regions. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or compatibility with every Square feature, merchant setup, browser, device, or network.

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access where we reasonably believe there is unauthorized access, non-payment, abuse, fraud, legal risk, security risk, or a violation of these Terms. Merchants may stop using Receipts and disconnect Square subject to any active billing or written agreement terms.

12. Intellectual property

Receipts, the website, code, design, branding, and related materials are owned by Toolandmore or its licensors. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to use Receipts for its intended purpose under these Terms.

13. Feedback

If you send feedback, suggestions, bug reports, or ideas, you allow Toolandmore to use them without restriction or compensation.

14. Disclaimers

RECEIPTS IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TOOLANDMORE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY.

15. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TOOLANDMORE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, LOST PROFITS, LOST REVENUE, LOST DATA, LOST GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO RECEIPTS WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID TO TOOLANDMORE FOR RECEIPTS BY THE MERCHANT IN THE THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR CAD $100 IF NO PAYMENT WAS MADE.

16. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Toolandmore harmless from claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses arising from your misuse of Receipts, your violation of these Terms, your violation of law, your merchant receipt practices, or your infringement of another person's rights.

17. Governing law

To the extent permitted by law, these Terms are governed by the laws applicable in Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protection law applies and cannot be waived.

18. Changes

We may update these Terms by posting a revised version with a new date. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
